These cute little guys make up an indoor bowling set. Because they're soft and light, they are safe to knock around, and they don't make noise when you get a strike. I got the pattern and inspiration from here and here.
After making the first few animals, I began to see a theme, so it was a challenge for me to only think of animals that fit in. Can you tell what they all have in common?*
I tried to come up with animals using only fabric that I already had in boxes around the house. This way it was a relatively inexpensive venture. Probably the most costly part was buying a bag of stuffing. It should be noted, however, that each one of these cost at least $.04. Pictured below you can see what weighted them down at the bottom.
Also pictured is the poor little otter that Zane got a hold of. He didn't even have it for too long before one arm was completely chewed off, and the other one is all mangled. I would have had to unstitch the entire pin to put new arms in, so I just chalked this one up to a loss.
The bowling ball itself was filled with stuffing and uncooked rice. The weighting was tricky and in the end they turned out pretty uneven, but I had to hurry and send them off anyway to try to get the packages to my cute nieces and nephews (niblings?) before Easter.
I got some cute pictures/videos from my siblings of their kids bowling, so that was fun and totally rewarding. :)
*The theme was that they all had to be animals that go in water: Duck, Penguin, Turtle, Otter, and Jellyfish.

I told Michael there were four pennies inside each one, and he cut them open to get the pennies.
ReplyDeleteJust kidding. ;)
I wondered if that would happen :)
