A month or so after we had moved in, we got a steal of a deal off KSL for a wood table and six chairs. And, not that we're pansies, but after sitting on a wood chair for a while it can start feeling hard as, well, wood.
Our solution has been to steal the pillows from the couch and just sit on those.
One day, however, in a fit of crafting aspiration, I announced my resolution to make matching seat cushions for all of the chairs. I found some deals on a good washable fabric, foam for the stuffing, and bought some needles and thread (no deals on those ones though). These supplies then proceeded to be stacked in a corner while I procrastinated actually putting them together. (well, actually the foam I bought from someone off KSL didn't sit in the corner until much later. It sat outside, and in the shower as I tried to rid it of a nasty cigarette smell. But that's material for another post which I shall never write.)
So anyway, I finally pull out (read borrow from parents) the sewing machine and get started on what is turning out to be a reminder of something I knew long ago. I hate sewing. It is such a frustrating experience.
The machine will be humming along, it's needle methodically and mesmerizingly darting in and out of the fabric when CRUNCH-ka-ChooonliggINGly-hA-Cummbbgbbbbbmmmmmmm.... UGGGHHH!!! More than once I've yelled out "I HATE THIS!!!!" And I can only imagine what the neighbors are wondering.
However, I stubbornly pushed through and here's the result:
What do you think? (Please tell me it looks like the neatest and most comfortable chair cushion you've ever seen because I still have five more to assemble.)
Sigh...
On the upside I successfully hemmed this tablecloth. :)
You have successfully made me laugh :) and I am beaming with pride at your domestication!
