Picture Travelogue - Arches

Once upon a time, the time being specifically earlier this summer, Brycen and I went to Arches National Park.
Landscape Arch

It was amazing and a fun place to visit. And what could be better than going with my hunk-of-a-husband?
Hey there good lookin'

From the very start, we set off for Delicate Arch- a must see for anyone who's grown up with the Utah license plates of Arches fame.

But, we took a wrong turn somewhere.
I think we might be lost!
However, we could see people on a ridge in the distance, so we betted we'd end up at our destination if we just headed toward them.

This is what the arch looks like from the way we came upon it.
And this is what happens when you put the camera in the hands of the wife. She thinks, who cares about the scenery around him, I just want pictures of my ridiculously good-looking husband.

The best way to get there from where we were may not have been the precipitously steep edge here on the side. Regardless, we took it.

A friend we found on the way. Actually, there are two in there.
We made it!

We were a little excited to be there.

And also ridiculously in love.

Later we came across some Ute Rock Art

And were inspired to make add some of our own art.

I had to wait in line for a bathroom, so Brycen, while waiting for me to wait, found the nearest wall to climb.

So beautiful,
So wonderful,
So Brycen. :)

You have to be careful out there in the desert. They say that sometimes the creatures can get wild...

just kidding :)

This one may have been our favorite arch. Shady, cool, and as much fun as a giant sandbox!

Backflip into the soft sand

I thought this one looked like Africa if you angled it right.

This is our friend Stan Sandstone.
No, not those little people- this big giant made of rocks behind them! He's looking suspiciously off to the right, just hoping we hadn't noticed him there in his clever hidden place.

After a long, but scenic, hike, we made it to some more arches.

Brycen made it too, but you wouldn't be able to tell by all my close-up photography.

This next one is called Private Arch...
So we left that person alone.

This one is called Dark Angel. We hadn't planned to make the hike out to see it, but followed the wrong cairns at some point.

Oh well, let's just take pictures like we meant to come here.

Ah, here we are, this is what we came to see. Go a little closer and you can see why this one is named Double O Arch.

(Or triple O for those of us who think we're funny)

In summary, what we saw this trip was:
Impressive skies.

Impressive desert plants
Impressive landscape. (There is so much color!)

Impressive husband.

  1. I love those pictures! I love that place! Someday we'll go together, and Jon and I can 4-wheel drive you out to Eye of the Whale arch. That's my favorite! :)
